KITCHEN POLITICS 123, LLC
MISSION STATEMENT

Welcome and a heartfelt thank you for paying us a visit to our humble website. Our aim is to provide a one stop for news on the political goings on in Washington, DC and nationwide. We follow Democrats, Republicans and Independents. We examine how their individual or joint strategies are playing out and provide commentary on the effects on the lives of Mr. Mrs. and Ms. Everyday American. We are the proud Defenders of Democracy who take special pride in angering sexists, ageists, misogynists and racists who don’t espouse our values or share our points of view.

Who Is Kitchen Politics 123?

Kitchen Politics 123 is a progressive online radio show and political website that covers political news and commentary. Hosted by David Franklin in New Mexico, and Lori Pica in Michigan, the show aims to provide a “one-stop” resource for news on the political happenings in Washington, D.C., and nationwide.

It features discussions on various political strategies and their impacts on everyday Americans, with a liberal/progressive slant. The hosts dissect Republican philosophies, policies, and talking points, while also addressing a variety of contemporary political issues with a dash of pop culture and how it affects American politics.

The format of Kitchen Politics 123 is designed to simulate the feel of a casual conversation, akin to sitting around a kitchen table or in a sports bar, engaging in honest debates about current politics. The show airs multiple times a week, on Blog Talk Radio (and later on Podbean Podcast) and listeners can call in to participate in the discussions.

We occasionally interview candidates who are running for political office on the Federal, Statewide and Local levels. We don’t discriminate as all candidates are welcomed to be interviewed and speak about their hopes, aspirations and plans if elected to office. Republicans have been invited on to the podcast numerous times, but are too afraid of coming on to defend their positions and beliefs on a wide range of hot button issues. Typically Republicans, on all levels these days, seem to lack a spine, have no common decency nor self awareness and come up short on character.

We respectfully welcome everyone from all political beliefs, even if the caller is non-political. As long as the discourse is respectful and dialogue is positive where we can try tovlearn from each other, we love hearing from Americans. We even have a good international following on every Continent who calls in from time to time.

Our regular callers are known as the “Kitchen Table Gang” who share our ideals and values of what America is and who it should become as we continue this great American experiment with Democracy.

My name is Lori Picarella. Having to write this short biography is very stressful for me. I don’t like talking about myself much less writing about myself but here it goes.

My upbringing, and being the oldest of 3 sisters honestly helped to shape who I am today. I’ve always been the responsible one, the one that can mend disputes among family and friends. The one who always gave my time, energy & empathy when I had my own challenges to resolve. My parents migrated from San Marino, Italy and I was the one they relied on in so many ways growing up. I do realize now it all shaped me into who I am today.

The weekly visits we would have from my Great Aunt and Uncle is a memory I treasure. I would sit quietly and listen to them talk for hours about politics, social issues, and of course gossip! It is why I have an interest in politics and a passion for social issues today. Gossip is a given.

I am also a wife & a caretaker of a sick husband, a mom of 3 and Nana of 6! The love I have for my family cannot be replaced by any material thing in the world.

My career as an Ophthalmic Technician was a good decision for me. It gave me satisfaction when the patient’s medical vision problems were resolved & taught me to have empathy when they could not be resolved. It taught me that there are a multitude of different personalities in the world and we all have our stories to share and that no one’s the same.

In 2008 I was asked to CoHost a podcast Kitchen Politics 123. I decided to give it a try and it was instant LUV! I could finally express my views, find ways to help people and find my passion. Today we are growing and my hope to make a difference in maybe just one life would make it all worth it to me!

David Franklin has been involved in politics most of his adult life. Coming from a political family, politics was embedded in him from an early age. There is nothing more noble than public service to build a nation. He has always been unabashedly progressive supporting ideologically left leaning causes.

David Franklin has been involved with American politics since 1996. He has worked with every Presidential campaign since then. All politics is local and he has worked for down ballot candidates in various levels. From non-partisan School Board and Judicial races to City Council and Gubernatorial races. His main aim is to elect strong, capable and ethical Democrats to office.

In his spare time, he plays recreational soccer and cricket. America is now more than a melting pot. We are an ethnic salad made up of nationalities from around the world. Diversity and tolerance are key things that help America evolve into a better place. A key ingredient of growth is listening and feeling genuine empathy. Respect is earned by not talking about making a difference but doing tangible things that build one’s community. Kitchen Politics 123 brand was started in October 2018 when Barack Obama was going for his second term in office as President of the United States. The fiery rhetoric from the pathologically mendacious rightwing is usually violent with elements of racism and sexism attached. But it is up to us to have a level of maturity and self discipline to control the direction of political discourse by using our words responsibly. Critical thinking and carrying oneself with dignity always make a difference. This is what America needs today. Doing the opposite of that is unAmerican and beguilingly reprehensible. We attract people to our common cause of making America what it is meant to be.

He gives himself freely to the noble cause of serving his community through teamwork and by having positive communication with everyone he comes across. Even with people who doesn’t agree philosophically with him. Meeting halfway to accomplish shared goals is always better than confrontation and strife which accomplishes nothing. This should be the direction America goes in. He has lived in New York, New Jersey, Ohio, Florida and New Mexico. He has met people of varying cultures, religions, sexual orientations, socio-economic levels and ethnicities wherever he has lived. He has a laid back personality that is welcoming to friends, acquaintances or strangers. This is who he is and this is who America should always strive to be. It is the only way we can move forward positively and have a better America.
